User Research is usually seen as the most expendable part when it comes to a UX budget. However, in this session we will talk about why user research is an integral part of the process. Ultimately, a focus on UX research saves you time and money and makes sure you are creating products that solve real user needs. Stephen will cover the types of work that a user researcher does as well as how research fits into the overall human-centred design process.
Dr. Stephen Hassard is a UX Research Manager at Google and a Lecturer in the Design School at the University of Kansas. He has been working and teaching in the field for over 15 years for such companies as YouTube, Garmin and Ubisoft. He also taught at University College London, University of Winnipeg and the Google TechExchange programme. He traded London for Southern California but he still misses the kebabs.
